The Challenge

Launch a complete brand identity for an upstart, non-profit comedy theater in the heart of the city’s Cultural District. Initial project included name development, style tiling, thumbnail sketches, and logo development. From that point, the brand would need to be extended to interior design of the lobby and storefront, print materials, and web & social marketing materials.

The Solution

Developed a logo and brand that connoted the fun, welcoming atmosphere of the theater: use of a bright, welcoming color scheme; marrying the thematics of videogame motifs with the world of live comedy; and establishing typographic and visual elements that can be extended and adapted across a variety of media.


The on-going Arcade Comedy Theater project began in 2013 with a logo and a singular poster design. Over the years, the brand has been refined while maintaining consistency. Polling done during the 2014 Pittsburgh Comedy Festival revealed that the Arcade had the highest name/brand recognition amongst the comedy theaters & production companies in Pittsburgh.
